When I first saw the details of this trip on Funday friday page, I was excited. I have always wanted to be part of a travel mission like this. I quickly asked my friend and we both filled out the form and signed up. Imagine my joy when I was eventually selected. While filling out the form, I had to research on fun and educative places to visit in Seosan and outside of Seosan. The first time I went to seosan by Bus from Gumi. Along with my friend, we had to take a train and a bus ride before arriving at the seosan bus terminal. We then took about 40mins bus ride to our hotel: Daesan Golden Business Hotel. This was a very great choice. after dropping of our luggae, our first stop was Ganworam hermitage. It was quite tough getting here and we observed that so many persons were driving. We had to walk long distance from the bus stop to the hermitage. It was a little bit dark to take very good photos but it was fun anyway. We got our stamp books here and got our first stamps.... We enjoyed the scenery and had dinner at a very strange burger place just outside the exit. We had to find our way home for another 2 hours. If you miss a bus in some remote areas in Seosan, you will be very lucky to make it back in time for anything. The next day, we learnt our lessons about the bus and their long intervals and left the hotel pretty early. This time we visited Haemieupseong Fortress and Haemi Martyrdom ground. These two places were real eye openers to the struggles that early Christians and Catholics had in Korea. The next day we visited Daesan catholic church and Samgilpohang Port. Just when i thought I had transportation all figured out, it took forever to get in and out of this egion. Regardless our experience at Samgilpohang Port was incredible. The next day we visited Maae Yeorae Samjon Sang before finding our way back to the bus terminal. For the second trip, I decided to drive to ease movement and reduce stress. This time, we were able to visit more places within 3 days. We visited Gaya Mountain, Palbongsan Mountain, Gaesimsa Temple, Seosan culture center, Seogwangsa temple, Seosan Public library, and Jungang Lake park. These were incredible. For the last two nights of the trip, we went to Buyeo, another incredibly beautiful city in South Chungcheon. Until that day I had never been to Buyeo. Infact, I had actually never heard of Buyeo. This time I was exposed to incredible history of Bekjae and how the first Pagoda was built, and how Budhism came to Korea from Japan. It was an experience indeed and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it.
